This article tells you how to save (publish) your publication in Web Archive format (an .mht file). In Publisher 2003, the .mht file is known as a single-file Web page. When you save your publication in the .mht format, a single .mht file is created. You can then send this file to others as an attachment in an e-mail message. When other users open the file, your Web publication is displayed in their browser window. Users can then click hyperlinks to view each page of your publication.

To prepare your publication for Web Archive format, follow these steps.

Create Hyperlinks in Each Page of Your Publication

1. Start Publisher, and then open your publication (.pub file).
2. In an empty area on page 1 of your publication, insert a text box in which to create a hyperlink to page 2.
3. Click Text Box on the Insert menu. Point to the area on the page where you want to insert the text box, and then drag diagonally down the page until you create the box size that you want.
4. In the text box, type the text that you want to display for the hyperlink. For example, type Go to Page 2 or Next Page.
5. Select the text that you typed in step 4, and then click Hyperlink on the Insert menu.
6. Under Link to in the Insert Hyperlink dialog box, click Place in this Document.
7. Click Page 2 page title, and then click OK.
8. In an empty area of page 2 of your publication, insert a text box in which to create a hyperlink to page 1.
9. Click Text Box on the Insert menu. Point to the area on the page where you want to insert the text box, and then drag diagonally down the page until you create the box size that you want.
10. In the text box, type the text that you want to display for the hyperlink. For example, Go to Page 1 or Previous Page.
11. Select the text that you typed in step 9, and then click Hyperlink on the Insert menu.
12. Under Link to in the Insert Hyperlink dialog box, click Place in this Document.
13. Click Page 1 page title, and then click OK.
14. Repeat steps 2 through 13 for each page in your publication.
    
    Make sure that you create a hyperlink to each page in your publication from the previous page, and a hyperlink from each page of your publication back to the previous page, or page 1.

Save Your Publication As an .mht File

1. Click Save on the File menu, and then save your publication as a .pub file.
2. Click Save As on the File menu.
3. In the Save As dialog box, click Web Archive (*.mht, *.mhtml) in the Save as type box, specify a name and location where you want to save the file, and then click Save.
   
   Your Web publication is published to a folder on your computer and saved with an .mht extension.
4. Start your browser, and then open the .mht file. Make sure that you preview and test the hyperlinks on all pages of your Web publication.
   
   NOTE: Graphics and pictures in your Web publication may appear in different positions when compared to the original .pub file. The insertion of the text boxes can cause graphics to shift positions. If this is the case, you may want to further modify your publication before you send it to others to view. To do this, open your publication as a .pub file, and then make the necessary changes. Save it again as a .pub file, and then save it as an .mht file. For instructions about how to do this, see steps 1 through 3 of the "Save Your Publication As an .mht File" section.
5. When you are ready to send your publication to others, start your e-mail program, compose your e-mail message, and then attach the .mht file to your message.
