How to create a collapsible list in FrontPage 2002 (312036)

825491. SUMMARY This article describes how to create a collapsible list in
FrontPage 2002. All procedures are performed in an existing Web
page.

Create a Collapsible List- In Page view, place the insertion point where you want to
create an outline.
- On the Format menu, click Bullets and Numbering.
- On the Numbers tab, select the style of numbers or letters that you want to
start with, and then click OK.
- For each item that you want in the outline, regardless of
the level it will occupy in the completed list, type the item and then press
ENTER.
- When you type the last item, press ENTER twice to end the
list.
- To place each item on the correct level, do one of the
following:
- To move an item down to the next numbered level, select
the item, and then click Increase Indent twice.
-or- - To format an item as a paragraph on the current level
(without bullets or numbering), select the item, and then click Increase Indent once.
-or- - To move an item up to the previous level, select the
item, and then click Decrease Indent one or more times, as needed.
- To apply numbering, lettering, or bulleted styles to the
different levels, select an item on a level or sublevel, right-click the
selection, and then click List Properties on the shortcut menu.
- On the Numbers tab, select the style that you want to use, and then click OK.

Set the Entire List as Collapsible- Right-click the text that is at the highest level of the
list, and then click List Properties on the shortcut menu.
- Select the Enable collapsible outlines
check box.
NOTE: If this option is not displayed, you did not select all the
items in the list or level. - If you want the list to be collapsed when the page is first
opened in a Web browser, select the Initially collapsed check
box, and then click OK.
NOTE: If your list contains many items that are on the same level,
each level -- including the additional levels below that level -- will be
collapsible if you perform the preceding steps. In addition, all levels below
the original level also will be collapsible.

Set Only One Level in the List to Be Collapsible- Right-click the text that is at the highest level of the
list, and then click List Properties on the shortcut menu.
- Select the Enable collapsible outlines
check box.
NOTE: If your list contains many items that are on the same level,
each level -- including the additional levels below it -- will be collapsible
if you perform the preceding steps. In addition, all levels that are below the
original level also will be collapsible.

Troubleshooting - To test your collapsible list, click Preview in
Browser, and then click the top level of the part of the list that you
collapsed.
- Collapsible lists are supported by Microsoft Internet
Explorer 4.0 and later, as well as other Web browsers that support Dynamic
HTML.
