SYMPTOMS

After you install Windows 2000 on your computer, your Hewlett-Packard (HP) ScanJet 4200C universal serial bus (USB) scanner may not work.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the HP software that comes with the scanner is not compatible with Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, make sure that the USB ports are functioning, and then obtain and install the HP Windows 2000-compatible software for this scanner.
