"MakeSelfRelativeSD Failed" Entries Appear in the Cluster.log File (311951)

When you view the log file for the Cluster service (Cluster.log), the following entry may appear multiple times in the log:
[ClRtlCopySecurityDescriptor] MakeSelfRelativeSD failed, 0x00000551
CAUSE
When the Cluster service copies or updates a security descriptor, a call is made to make sure that the security descriptor is self-relative. If the descriptor is already self-relative, the error message may appear multiple times in the log file for the Cluster service.
RESOLUTION
This error is harmless; you can generally ignore these error messages.
Error code 0x00000551 means "A security descriptor is not in the right format (absolute or self-relative)."
