The System Time May Be Late After You Restart the Computer (311785)

This article was previously published under Q311785 SYMPTOMS If you are running Windows XP configured for a workgroup
and without an Internet connection, the system time may be late after you
restart the computer. CAUSE The Windows Time service sets the time even if the service
does not have access to a time-source server. Doing so slows down the time in
some situations. RESOLUTION To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for

WORKAROUND To work around this problem, disable the Windows Time
service if you do not require time synchronization. STATUSMicrosoft
