IIS: MMC for FTP Site Does Not Display Files or Folders in the Right Pane (311669)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Information Services 5.0
- Microsoft Internet Information Services version 6.0
This article was previously published under Q311669 SYMPTOMS
When you select a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) site in the left pane of the Internet Information Services (IIS) Microsoft Management Console (MMC), no files or folders are visible in the right pane, even if files and folders are physically present in the FTP directory.
CAUSE
No configuration information for FTP files or folders is stored in the metabase, so the files and folders are not enumerated in the MMC view when the FTP site is selected.
RESOLUTION
If you need to view these items from the MMC, right-click the root FTP site or FTP virtual directory that you want to view and click Browse. In IIS version 6.0, the files and folders become visible in the right pane. In IIS version 5.0, a new browser window opens and shows the files and folders that exist in the selected FTP site.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
