You receive the "Microsoft Entourage 2001 was not found" error message when you try to import data (311591)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to import data from Microsoft Entourage 2001 into Microsoft Entourage X for Mac, you may receive the following error message:
Entourage could not import all of your information. Import from Microsoft Entourage 2001 could not be completed because a necessary file "Microsoft Entourage 2001" was not found.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if Entourage 2001, which was used to create the user data, is not installed on the computer where you are trying to import the data.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue,install Entourage 2001 on the computer beforeyou import the data into Entourage X for Mac. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start the computer under Mac OS 9.x.
  2. Install Microsoft Office 2001. You can use either a drag-and-drop installation or a custom installation of Entourage.

  3. Start Entourage 2001, and then quit Entourage 2001.
  4. Start the computer under Mac OS X.
  5. Start Entourage X for Mac, and then click Import on the File menu. The Import window will appear.
  6. On the Begin Import page, click Import information , and then click the right arrow to continue.
  7. On the Choose a Program page, click Microsoft Entourage 2001,and then click the right arrow to continue.
  8. On the Ready to Import page, select the categories that you want to import, and then click the right arrow to continue.
  9. In the Select your Entourage 2001 Identity in the Office 2001 Identities folder box, and then select the Identity folder that you want to import the data from.
  10. On the Ready to Go! page of the Import window, click Finish.
  11. After you import the identity, you can remove Office 2001.
