ENTX: Cannot Type User Name or Password on the Proxies Tab Under Mail and News Preferences (311590)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q311590 SYMPTOMS
When you click Settings for Web protocol on the Proxies tab of the Mail & News Preferences dialog box, the User name and Password boxes may be unavailable, and you cannot type your user name and password.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because of changes in the Macintosh operating system and the Entourage X program. Proxy settings are among the Network preferences, which are available under System Preferences, not in individual programs.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, set the proxies in the Network preferences area, which is available under System Preferences in Mac OS X. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Apple menu, click System Preferences.
- Click Network, and then click the Proxies tab.
- Set the proxies, and then click Save.
MORE INFORMATION
Microsoft Web-based programs use the proxy information that you apply in the Network preferences area, under System Preferences. This functionality allows you to make a change in just one place and have the programs update that information next time they start.
