This article was previously published under Q311527

SYMPTOMS

When you try to transform the HardwareCatalog.xml catalog that is included with the Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 Software Development Kit (SDK), the following error message appears in the event log:
The XML Document has failed validation for the following reason:
Parsing error. Can't find the definition for "MSCommerceCatalogCollection"

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the HardwareCatalog.xml file is formatted in Commerce 2000 Catalog version 1.0 format. The BizTalk map that is included with BizTalk Accelerator for Suppliers transforms Commerce 2000 version 1.5 catalogs.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, import HardwareCatalog.xml to the BizTalk Accelerator for Suppliers BizDesk, and then publish the catalog from there. This converts the catalog from Commerce 2000 Catalog version 1.0 format to version 1.5 format.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
