SYMPTOMS

When you use the Office XP Developer Packaging Wizard to package a Microsoft Word document, you may receive the following error message:
The file that you specified could not be opened. Possible reasons for this include:
  • Word is not installed on your computer.
  • The version of Word installed on your computer is incompatible with this file.
  • The file you specified is not a valid Word file.

CAUSE

You have Norton AntiVirus 2002 installed on the computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve the problem, contact your antivirus software vendor to obtain either an updated version of their product or to obtain assistance with reconfiguring their product..
