Multiple Programs Start If You Use the Play All Command in the My Music Folder with Different File Associations (311428)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional
This article was previously published under Q311428 SYMPTOMS
If you select various music file types at one time by selecting multiple files (such as .mp3, .wav, .wma, .ram, .au, or .cda files) in the My Music folder and then use the Play All command, multiple programs may be started instead of just one program (such as Windows Media Player). This behavior occurs if the different file types are associated with different programs that are installed on your computer.
CAUSE
If you have associated a file type with a program, that program is started when you use the Play All command. If you select file types that are associated with different programs, all of those programs start when you select the file types and then use the Play All command.
STATUSThis behavior is by design.
