SUMMARY

The MMISNotify program is used in conjunction with the Mobile Information Server Software Development Kit (SDK) to send push notifications from any program to users through the Mobile Information Server infrastructure.

For security purposes, Mobile Information Server 2002, by default, denies access to the MMISNotify virtual directory from any Internet Protocol (IP) address other than the local computer (127.0.0.1). To allow the program to send notifications, you must add the other IP addresses to the allowed list of IP addresses in the MMISNotify virtual directory. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Mobile Information Server computer, open the Internet Services Manager Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in.
  2. Expand the computer name, and then expand Default Web Site.
  3. Right-click the MMISNotify virtual directory, and then click Properties.
  4. Click the Directory Security tab, and then click Edit in the IP addresses and domain name restrictions section.
  5. To add a server's IP address (granting permission to send notification to MMISNotify), click Add.
    • To add a single IP address, click Single computer, and then type the IP address of that computer.
    • To add a group of computers, click Group of computers, and then type the network ID and subnet mask.
    • To add all computers in a domain, click Domain name, and then type the domain names of the computers that you want to grant access to.
  6. When complete, click OK to close all property pages.
