The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows CE Operating System, Versions 3.0

This article was previously published under Q311347

SYMPTOMS

When you try to synchronize a desktop computer over a network, the following symptoms may occur:
  • The synchronization process is unsuccessful.
  • You may be presented with virtual private networking (VPN) credentials if VPN server information is present in the Work settings.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if The Internet appears in the My Network Card Connects to box. In this situation, the network card assumes that any address that is not a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) can only be found on a network by using the Work settings.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue:
  1. Under Internet Settings, click New.
  2. Give the new connection an appropriate name.
  3. Click the Proxy Settings tab, click to select the This network connects to the Internet check box, and then click OK.
  4. Use the connection that you created in step 2 as the connection that you use for connecting to the Internet and to Work.
  5. In the My network card connects to box, click Work.
