Error Message When You Try to Connect to Internet While Internet Explorer Is Not Running (311265)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to use a hyperlink or other Internet resource while Microsoft Internet Explorer is not running on your computer, you may receive the following error message:
Failed to initialize registry for Local Machine. (Error in file Vorlon2.cpp, Line 137, Build 2.0.0.370). Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. Runtime error: Programs C:\Program Files\AtHome\Athome\Home.exe. Abnormal Program Termination.
NOTE: This error message refers to the At Home browser. You may receive a slightly different error message, depending on your default browser.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if Internet Explorer is not your default browser, and your default browser been damaged.

NOTE: The default browser is the Internet browser that your computer automatically starts when you attempt to use an Internet resource (if a browser is not already running).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, make Internet Explorer the default browser. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, double-click Internet Options.
  3. On the Programs tab, click to select the Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser check box, and then click Apply.
  4. Start Internet Explorer.
  5. When you are asked if you want to make Internet Explorer your default browser, click Yes.
Internet Explorer now starts whenever you attempt to use a hyperlink or other Internet resource.
