XADM: Event ID 1025 Is Logged Repeatedly in the Application Event Log (311233)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Enterprise Server

This article was previously published under Q311233

SYMPTOMS

The following error message may be logged in the Application event log at a rate of about five warnings per second:
Event Type: Warning
Source: MSExchangeIS Mailbox
Event Category: General
Event ID: 1025
Computer Name: ServerA

An error occurred on database "First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (ServerA)". Function name or description of problem: EcEntryIdFromAddr Error: 0x467
Inbound Internet messages may be stuck in the Local Retry queue on the server that the error messages are logged on. Most messages are delivered without issues on the server.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if a message from the Internet contains a "REPLY-TO" field. The information store asks for the same attribute (proxy addresses) twice and Dsaccess only fills in the first instance. This problem can occur with Microsoft MSN Hotmail accounts if you alter the reply to address.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange 2000 Server. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, delete that message from the SMTP local delivery queue in Exchange System Manager. This eliminates the error messages in the Application event log; however, that piece of mail is lost.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

This problem was corrected in Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 2.
