Site Stager Utility Stages Hidden Postings with GUID Names Instead of Friendly Names (311229)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2001
  • NCompass Resolution 4.0

This article was previously published under Q311229

SYMPTOMS

When a Content Management Server (CMS) or NCompass Resolution site is staged, the Site Stager utility may stage some postings onto the file system with globally unique identifier (GUID) names instead of friendly names.

CAUSE

The default Site Stager utility site map file (SiteMap.asp) does not find postings that are marked as hidden. If a link in CMS points to one of these hidden postings, the stager finds the file through the link. However, because the file is not in the site map, the stager cannot associate the file with a friendly name and will stage the posting with its GUID name.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Content Management Server 2001. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Content Management Server 2001. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Content Management Server 2001 Service Pack 1.

MORE INFORMATION

If the staged files are published on a Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) server with CMS Internet Server Application Programming Interface (ISAPI) filters enabled, the browser returns an HTTP 500 error page when you try to access the hidden postings. However, this error does not occur if the staged files are published on an IIS server in which CMS ISAPI filters are not enabled.
