XCCC: You Cannot Book Physical and Virtual Conference Resources in the Same Request (311144)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server

This article was previously published under Q311144

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to book an online meeting request and you specify both a physical and a virtual conference room in the Resources dialog box, this procedure may generate the following error message in Microsoft Outlook 97 or later:
The Exchange Mailbox Conferencing resource is not configured properly.
When you use Exchange Conferencing Server to create a meeting request, if you put a physical conference room mailbox in either the Required or Optional box (create a new meeting request to view these boxes), you can successfully book this meeting online. However, the administrator cannot automatically accept the request; the administrator of the physical conference room mailbox must log on and manually accept the meeting request.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because when you book an online conference meeting request, only the Resources dialog box of the meeting request can be used for direct booking mailboxes. For Exchange Conference Service meetings, the Resources dialog box is reconfigured to only accept Exchange Conferencing Resource mailboxes.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, book the two resources for the conference separately.
