The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft NetMeeting 3.01 for Windows 2000

This article was previously published under Q311137

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start NetMeeting, you may receive the following error message:
Conf.exe caused an invalid page fault in Wab32.dll.
NetMeeting then quits.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if there is a corrupted contact entry in the Windows Address Book.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, either delete the corrupted contact entry or delete the entire Address Book.

To delete the entire Address Book, delete all *.wab files from the hard disk.

MORE INFORMATION

Before you delete the entire Address Book, you may want to back up the Address Book first by copying the .wab file to another folder. (If you copy the .wab file to another folder, you do not need to change the file name.) Follow these steps:
  1. Either create a new folder to store the .wab file in, for example C:\Backup, or use an existing folder.

For information about how to create a folder, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type new folder, and then double-click the New Folders topic.
  2. Locate the .wab file:
    1. Click Start, point to Search, and then click For Files or Folders.
    2. In the Named box, type *.wab, and then click Find Now.
  3. Copy the username.wab file to make a backup, where username is the name or alias of the Outlook Express user who owns the .wab file, and save the backup to the folder where you want to store it.

For information about how to copy a file, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type copying, and then double-click the files or folders topic.
