Error Message When You Try to Open Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 3.1: Shell32.dll - Is Linked to Missing Export (311098)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to open Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 3.1, you may receive an error message similar to one of the following:
Shell32.dll - is linked to missing export.

-or-

ShreggetUSvalueA - A device attached to the system is not functioning.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if there are duplicate copies of the Schlwapi.dll and Urlmon.dll files on your computer.

Adobe PhotoDeluxe creates these files upon installation and stores them in the same folder as the original files.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, rename the duplicate files. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Windows Explorer.
  2. Navigate to the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\PhotoDelux HE 3.0

  3. Right-click Schlwapi.dll, and then click Rename on the shortcut menu.
  4. In the box that appears, type Schlwapi.old, and then press ENTER.

    When the confirmation message appears, click Yes.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to rename the Urlmon.dll file as Urlmon.old.
