SUMMARY

This article describes how to change the HTTP and LDAP ports that are used by Microsoft Metadirectory Services (MMS). There are two supported methods that you can use to change these port numbers, and both methods require that the Metadirectory service be stopped and then restarted.

MORE INFORMATION

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To change the HTTP and LDAP ports that are used by MMS, use either of the following methods.

Use Registry Editor to Change the HTTP and LDAP Ports

  1. Use Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe) to locate the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Microsoft Metadirectory Services\Parameters

  2. Double-click the HTTP port value, click Decimal, type 8080 (or the port number that you want to use), and then click OK.
  3. Double-click the LDAP port value, click Decimal, type 390 (or the port number that you want to use), and then click OK.
  4. Quit Registry Editor, and then restart your computer.

Use the Setupsvc.exe Tool to Change the HTTP and LDAP Ports

  1. At a command prompt, go to the Zoomserv\Bin folder. Note that the drive should be your installation drive.
  2. Type setupsvc -update -path c:\zoomserv\bin -httpport 8080 -ldapport 390, and then press ENTER.

NOTE: You must use the -update parameter and specify all of the changes you want. Parameters that are not specified in the command string will change back to the default settings. Because of this, you must change both ports at the same time.
