PPT2000: Cannot Insert a TIFF File from a Local Mapped Drive on a Citrix Connection (310889)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to insert a Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) file in Microsoft PowerPoint SR-1, you receive the following error message:
An error occurred while importing this file File_name.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you try to insert the TIFF file from a local drive that is mapped by a Citrix server that is running Terminal Services.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, manually map a drive to a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) connection, instead of using the built-in drive mapping that the Citrix client provides.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP-3).
