PPT2001: Hyperlink Inserted from Formatting Palette Does Not Respond in Slide Show (310812)

SYMPTOMS

When you click a hyperlink to another Microsoft PowerPoint presentation or to another file during a slide show, the link does not respond, and the presentation or file does not open.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you insert the hyperlink from the Formatting Palette. (Under Hyperlink, click Other File or Other PowerPoint Presentation in the On mouse click or On mouse over list.)

NOTE: If you insert the hyperlink by using the Hyperlink command on the Insert menu or the Action Settings command on the Slide Show menu, the link works as expected.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, download and install the Microsoft Office 2001 Service Release 1 file. To do so, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
To temporarily work around this problem, insert the hyperlink by using the Hyperlink command on the Insert menu, or the Action Settings command on the Slide Show menu.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2001 for Mac Service Release 1.
