You Cannot Use the SBS Console After You Reinstall IIS (310672)

SYMPTOMS

After you remove and then reinstall Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) on Small Business Server (SBS) 2000, users may receive the following error message when they try to connect to http://servername/myconsole:
The page cannot be found

HTTP 404 - File not found

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the MyConsole virtual folder that was set up during the original SBS installation is removed when you remove IIS.

RESOLUTION

To re-create the MyConsole virtual folder:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. In the list of installed programs, click Microsoft Small Business Server 2000, and then click Change/Remove.
  4. Follow the instructions in the wizard until you reach the "Component Selection" page.
  5. In the box to the left of Small Business Server, click Maintenance.
  6. Expand Small Business Server, and then expand Administration.
  7. In the box that is to the left of Web Administrator, click Reinstall.
  8. Click Next, and then follow the on-screen instructions to finish the wizard.
  9. Insert Small Business Server 2000 CD-ROM 3 when you are prompted.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
