SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Windows XP, you may notice that your Diamond Viper V330 video adapter is detected as an Nvidia Riva 128.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because your Diamond Viper V330 video adapter may not have a Plug and Play ID that matches the Plug and Play ID for the Windows XP driver.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, manually install the Windows XP Diamond V330 driver, or leave the current driver in place. The Windows XP Nvidia Riva 128 driver is the same driver as the Windows XP Diamond V330 driver. To manually update the driver:
  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Switch to Classic View (if it is not already selected), and then double-click System.
  2. Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
  3. Expand Display Adapters.
  4. Double-click the Nvidia Riva 128 device.
  5. Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.
  6. Click Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), and then click Next.
  7. Click Don't search. I will choose the driver to install, and then click Next.
  8. Click to clear the Show compatible hardware check box.
  9. In the Manufacturer box, click Diamond.
  10. In the Model box, click Diamond Viper V330.
  11. Click Next, and then finish the installation.
  12. Restart the computer if prompted.
