This article was previously published under Q308936

SYMPTOMS

When you use a Web browser to view a form-results text file for your Microsoft FrontPage Web, you may receive only a blank page.

Additionally, you may receive the following error message:
HTTP Error 403 403.2 Forbidden: Read Access Forbidden

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the permissions on the Web server do not allow browsing to the form-results page when the form-results page resides in the _private folder. This is the default setting used by the FrontPage Server Extensions.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1

Open the Web in FrontPage, and then use the Open With command to preview the form-results text file in a text editor:
  1. Open the Web in FrontPage.
  2. On the View menu, click Folders.
  3. Double-click the _private folder.
  4. Right-click the form-results text file, and then click Open With.
  5. Click Text Editor (notepad.exe), and then click OK.

Method 2

Copy or move the form-results text file to another folder, or place the form-results text file directly under the root Web.

NOTE: This method allows other people to browse to this file. The location of this file can be easily obtained by viewing the source code for the form page.
