You Cannot Save a Document That You Opened from the Shadow Folder Directly Back to the Workspace (308696)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a document in the shadow folder, you may not be able to save the document directly back to the workspace. A Microsoft Office dialog box that prompts you to save the file may be displayed repeatedly.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you are using either Microsoft Office XP or Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1 (SR1). Office 2000 allows you to open a document in the browser, and then edit and save changes; however, this feature is not included in Office 2000 SR1 and Office XP.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, download the document first, and then upload the document after you make changes.
