MORE INFORMATION

Description of IEPlugUI

Internet Explorer Pluggable UI (IEPlugUI, also called Multilingual Menus and Dialog Boxes for Internet Explorer) is a set of self-installable packages that change the menus, dialog boxes, and Help in Internet Explorer (and some Windows Explorer menus and dialog boxes) from the system's native language to another language. Typically, IEPlugUI is deployed as part of Microsoft Office Multilanguage User Interface (MUI) on all versions of Windows, as part of MUI on Microsoft Windows 2000, or both.

How IEPlugUI Works

The package installs a set of localized versions of the files that store the user interface (UI, or resource files) and Help files on the user's computer. When Internet Explorer is quit and restarted, the resource files and Help files in the localized language are called so that menus and dialog boxes are displayed in the localized language.

To Change the UI in Windows 2000

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Regional Settings, and then click Menus and Dialogs.

To Change the UI in Other Versions of Windows

  1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
  2. Click the General tab, click Languages, and then click Change.

General Rules

The version number of the IEPlugUI package must match the version of Internet Explorer on which you are installing the package. For Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese, the language pack for that language must be installed before or after IEPlugUI is installed.

Available Packages

The following list contains the IEPlugUI versions that have been released for different versions of Internet Explorer. For each version, there are 25 packages (one for each language version of Windows). Each version has a build number that matches the Internet Explorer build number. All released IEPlugUI packages are downloadable from the Microsoft Windows Update Web site. All of the packages have been released except for some languages of for Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 2 (SP2).
