LU3 Print Jobs Use 6 LPI Even If PDT Configured for 8 LPI (308616)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000

This article was previously published under Q308616

SYMPTOMS

LU3 print jobs may print using 6 lines per inch (LPI) even though the print session is configured to use a printer definition table (PDT) file that specifies 8 LPI for the print session.

CAUSE

The print server sends resets for LPI and maximum print position (MPP) for each new bracket it receives from the host system during an LU3 print session. The LPI and MPP values that are issued by the print server may override the settings defined in the PDT file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Host Integration Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Host Integration Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in Host Integration Server 2000 Service Pack 1.

MORE INFORMATION

A default LPI is set in a PDT file by setting the following line to the needed value:

DEFAULT_LPI? = 008 (or 006) /* default lines per
inch.

This causes the string in the LL8 or LL6 macro to be sent.
