Unable to Create Windows 2000 Server Image on RIS Server (308508)

SYMPTOMS

When you run Risetup.exe to add an a Windows 2000 Server image to the RIS server, you receive the following message:
The version of the product only supports Windows 2000 Professional.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the portion of code that makes up the RIS images on the server is only for Windows 2000 Professional, not for Windows 2000 Server.

RESOLUTION

An update has been provided that will allow you to install Risetup.exe based images of Windows 2000 Server and Advanced Server on your RIS server. The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
