SUMMARY

Microsoft strongly recommends that you remove the Beta 2 versions of the Microsoft .NET Framework/.NET Framework SDK before you install the released-to-market (RTM) version. You can uninstall .NET Framework Beta 2 by using the Add/Remove Programs utility in Control Panel.

MORE INFORMATION

Beta 2 of the Microsoft .NET Framework is not side-by-side (SXS) compatible with the RTM version of the .NET Framework. Installing the released version over the Beta 2 version will leave the .NET Framework in a configuration that is not supported by Microsoft Product Support Services.

NOTE: Because the Microsoft .NET Framework is also installed when you are distributing applications and by Visual Studio .NET, you should make sure you also uninstall Beta 2 of Visual Studio .NET and any deployed applications before installing the released version.
