You can use the Custom Installation Wizard to specify whether or not you migrate users' existing personal address books (PABs) to Outlook 2002 during installation. You can also specify default e-mail settings, such as the editor that Outlook uses to compose messages and the message format that Outlook uses to send messages.

Customizing Default Outlook 2002 Migration and E-Mail Settings

To set the Outlook migration option and change the default settings:
  1. Start the Custom Installation Wizard.
  2. If you want to convert the users' PABs to Outlook Address Books when Outlook first runs, on the Outlook Customize Default Settings page, click to select the Outlook Address Book check box under Personal Address Books.
  3. Select the options that you want to use as default settings. To set the default Outlook e-mail editor, click the default e-mail editor arrow to display the options, and then click the appropriate option.
  4. To set the default Outlook e-mail format, click the default e-mail format arrow to display the options, and then click an option.
  5. Click Next to continue setting options for your Office migration.

Troubleshooting

If you select Migrate user settings on the Customize Default Application Settings page, users' current settings override any settings that you specify on the Customize Default Application Settings page. If you do not select Migrate user settings, the settings that you specify on the Customize Default Application Settings page override the users' current settings.
