Problems with Norton Ghost 2001 (6.0) in Windows XP (308301)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install Norton Ghost 2001 (6.0) in Windows XP, the following error message occurs:
Norton Ghost 6.0 is incompatible with this version of Windows. For more information, contact Symantec.
Clicking Continue allows the installation to continue, but Ghost will only be able to create images of partitions that use the FAT file system. Windows XP NTFS partitions cannot be imaged by Ghost 2001.

CAUSE

Norton Ghost 2001 supports imaging only partitions with the FAT or NTFS 3.0 (from Microsoft Windows 2000) file system. Windows XP uses the NTFS 3.1 file system.

RESOLUTION

To create Windows XP NTFS images with Ghost, upgrade to Norton Ghost 2002 (7.0).
