This article was previously published under Q307907 SYMPTOMS After you use the Internet Explorer Administration Kit
(IEAK) to create an automatic configuration script, users may not be able to
retain the trusted sites that they add. Instead, the trusted sites may
disappear after the user adds them. CAUSE The .ins file that is created by the IEAK contains security
zones settings that are imported to Internet Explorer. When Internet Explorer
uses the .ins file for configuration, it first deletes all local trusted sites,
and then applies the security settings that are defined in the .ins file.
RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, do not import security zones and
settings when you create the .ins file with IEAK Profile Manager.
MORE INFORMATION Trusted sites settings are a part of Internet Explorer
security zones and settings. If an .ins file contains security zones and
settings, an Internet Explorer client cannot retain their trusted sites.
