FIX: French Installation of Desktop Engine Fails with Microsoft Installer (307837)

SYMPTOMS

Installing a French release of SQL Server Desktop Engine by way of a custom Microsoft Installer-based package may fail with the following error:
Erreur 1334.Le fichier 'sqlevn70.rll.80B35423_E700_4982_9D98_8D4E994E932C' ne peut pas etre installe car le fichier est introuvable dans le fichier CAB '_1828_sqlsvr_res.msm'. Il s'agit peut-etre d'une erreur reseau, d'une erreur de lecture du CD-ROM ou d'un probleme lie au package.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Hotfix

NOTE: The following hotfix was created prior to Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 2.

The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:
   Date           Size     File name

NOTE: Due to file dependencies, the most recent hotfix or feature that contains the above files may also contain additional files.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft SQL Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 2.

MORE INFORMATION

This merge module contains language-specific versions of resource files used only with the French version of the Desktop Engine. This file should not be used for any other languages.
