You Cannot Install the Exchange Notifications Component on Drive M of an Exchange 2000 Server (307824)

SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to install the Exchange Notifications (EES) component of Microsoft Mobile Information Server on drive M of a Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server-based server, Setup does not succeed. When you attempt a rollback, the Change Drive option is no longer available.

Note: Drive M is the drive that Exchange creates to access the information store.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, exit Setup and choose a drive other than drive M on which to install the EFS component.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

The installation of EFS on drive M is not possible nor is it supported.
