Fonts in Plus! CD Label Maker Do Not Preview or Print Correctly (307691)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP

This article was previously published under Q307691

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to change the font selection for a CD-ROM label, insert, or booklet element in Microsoft Plus! CD Label Maker, the font selection may not be applied to the element when you preview or print your label, insert, or booklet.

For example, if you specify the Webdings font for your CD-ROM label title, this font is not applied to the title when you preview or print your label.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you use a non-Western script font for your CD-ROM label, insert, or booklet. Plus! CD Label Maker supports only Western script fonts. Non-Western script fonts, including the following Symbol script fonts, are not supported:

Estrangelo Edessa
Gautami
Latha
Mangal
Marlett
MS Outlook
MV Boli
Raavi
Shruti
Tunga
Webdings
Wingdings
Wingdings2
Wingdings3

NOTE: The Symbol script font, Symbol, is supported in Plus! CD Label Maker.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use only Western script fonts for your CD-ROM labels, inserts, or booklets. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Plus! CD Label Maker, and then click Next.
  2. On the Step 1. Choose your music page, click the CD-ROM or playlist that you want, and then click Next.
  3. On the Step 2. Choose your paper template page, click the CD-ROM insert or label template that you want, and then click Next.
  4. On the Step 3. Design your CD insert page, click the Font button next to the CD-ROM label element whose font you want to change.
  5. In the Font list, click the Western script font that you want to use.

To determine whether the font that you select is a Western script font, click the font, and then look in the Script box. Western script fonts are designated as Western in the Script box.
  6. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
