SYMPTOMS

When you select a Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP screen saver and then change the display mode resolution setting at which it runs, this action may have no effect. The screen saver may continue to run at your current screen-resolution setting.

For example, if your current desktop screen resolution is set to 1152 by 854 pixels, and you do the following
  1. Select the Plus! Robot Circus screen saver.Click Settings on the Screen Saver tab.Click the Display Settings button.Select 1600x1200x32 in the Monitor Settings dialog box.
  2. Click Settings on the Screen Saver tab.Click the Display Settings button.Select 1600x1200x32 in the Monitor Settings dialog box.
  3. Click the Display Settings button.Select 1600x1200x32 in the Monitor Settings dialog box.
  4. Select 1600x1200x32 in the Monitor Settings dialog box.
the resolution of the screen saver does not change as expected. Instead, it continues to run at a resolution of 1152 by 854 pixels.

  • You use any of the following Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP screen savers:

    -and-

  • You change the display mode resolution setting of the monitor to a value that is different from that of your current screen resolution.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, set the display mode setting of the monitor to Automatic. This setting automatically uses a mode that works well with your current screen-resolution setting and display adapter. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Right-click an empty area of the desktop, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Screen Saver tab.
  3. Click Settings, and then click Display Settings in the Plus! Settings dialog box that appears.
  4. In the Choose a display mode for this monitor box, click Automatic, and then click OK twice.

STATUS
