SYMPTOMS
When you try to dismiss a reminder in Microsoft Outlook,
you receive the following error message:
Microsoft
Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime error!
Program:
c:/.../Outlook.exe
R6025
Pure virtual function call
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use one of the following
methods.
Method 1: Use a Command-Line Switch
Start Outlook with one of the following command lines:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Outlook.exe" /cleanreminders
-or-
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Outlook.exe"
/cleanviews
-or-
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Outlook.exe" /cleanfreebusy
NOTE: Enclose the full path in quotation marks as shown to preserve
long file names. If Outlook is installed in a different location, change the
command line accordingly. The command-line switches have the following
purposes:
Command-Line Switch Purpose
------------------- -------
/CleanFreeBusy Cleans and regenerates free/busy information
/CleanReminders Cleans and regenerates reminders
/CleanViews Restores default views
To start Outlook with a command line, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type one of the command lines shown earlier in this article,
and then click OK.
Method 2: Remove and Reinstall Microsoft Office 2000 Small Business
If Microsoft Office 2000 Small Business is installed in the same
folder as a previous installation of Microsoft Office 2000 Professional, you
have to remove Office Small Business and any other instances of Office, and
then reinstall Office Small Business. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click Microsoft Office, Small
Business, and then click Add/Remove.
- In the Office Maintenance Mode Wizard, click Remove Office, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
- Run the Office 2000 CD 1 File and Registry Eraser Utility
(Eraser2000.exe). This utility removes any remaining Office program files and
registry entries.
- Make sure that reminders in Outlook can be dismissed
without errors.
- Reinstall Office Small Business.
