You Cannot Select OK or Apply with Your Keyboard to Choose the Default Level for a Security Zone (307335)

SYMPTOMS

If you use the TAB key on your keyboard to select the Default Level button on the Security tab of Internet Options in Internet Explorer 6, and then press ENTER to change the selected Web content zone to the default level, you cannot apply the change or close the Internet Options dialog box without pressing ALT+F4 to cancel your changes.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem:
  1. Press ALT+TAB to switch to another program. If you do not have another program running, press CLT+ESC to expand the Start menu, and then press R to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Press ALT+TAB to switch back to the Internet Options dialog box.
After you following these steps, you can use the TAB key to select OK or Apply.

To avoid this problem, press ALT+D to select the Default Level button on the Security tab of Internet Options in Internet Explorer.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
