SYMPTOMS

When you try to use your backup device, you may receive an error message that indicates a DMA conflict with your backup device exists.

RESOLUTION

To try to resolve this issue:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
  2. Click the Device Manager tab, click your tape drive, click Properties, and then click the Resources tab.
  3. Disable the following options one at a time. After you disable an option, run a backup, and then test to see if disabling the option resolved the issue. For example, disable burst transfers, run a backup, and then test to see if disabling the option resolved the issue. If the issue is not resolved, disable the next option on the list, run a backup, and then test to see if disabling the option resolved the issue.
    • Burst transfers
    • Concurrent hard disk access
    • Concurrent video update
