Microsoft has released an update to address this problem. You can apply a software update either during or after Windows XP Setup.
Apply Software Update During Windows XP Setup
To prevent this issue from occurring when you upgrade to Windows XP, click
Yes, download the updated Setup files (Recommended) in the
Get Updated Setup Files dialog box during Setup, and then
click
Next.
