Create and Use a Guest Book

To create and use a Web site guest book, follow these steps:
  1. Create the Guest Book page. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Start Microsoft FrontPage.
    2. Click the arrow next to the New icon, and then click Page.
    3. In the Page Templates dialog box, double-click Guest Book.

The guest book appears with text comments. These comments are not displayed on the published copy of the page.

NOTE: You receive the following two messages:

We'd like to know what you think about our Web site. Please leave your comments in this public guest book so we can share your thoughts with other visitors.

Edit the text in the second message as you want.
  2. Look at or edit the form properties. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Right-click anywhere inside the dotted line around the form, and then click Form Properties on the shortcut menu.
    2. In the Form Properties dialog box, click Options.
    3. In the Options for Saving Results of Form dialog box, click the File Results tab.

You can make the following changes to form properties in the File Results dialog box:
      • File name.
      • File format (default is set to HTML definition list).
      • Whether or not to include the form field names.
      • Display the results of the guest book so that the latest entry is at the top of the guest book results or the bottom.
  3. Preview the guest book in your browser. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. On the File menu, click Preview in Browser.

When you receive the confirmation message, click Yes.

NOTE: Each time that you make a change to your Web page, click Refresh in your browser for the changes to take effect.
    2. If you would like to remove any posted results from the page, open Guestlog.htm, select the entry that you want to remove, and then delete it. Do not delete Form Results Inserted Here. If you delete that line, the guest book does not work. After you make changes, save the page.
