XL97: Cannot Open a File from Explorer After Using Microsoft Query to Return Data (307203)

After you use Microsoft Query to return data to Excel, if you then double-click an Excel file in Windows Explorer, Excel receives focus but does not open the file. You cannot open another Excel file by double-clicking until you close and restart Excel.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use either of the following methods to open the other file:
- On the File menu, click Open. Browse to the file that you want to open, select the file, and then click Open.
-or- - Drag the file from the Explorer window into Excel.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Excel 2000.
