Cannot Use a 3Com HomeConnect PC Camera and Windows Movie Maker to Record a Movie Clip (307080)

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade from Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me) to Windows XP, when you try to record a second movie clip by using a 3Com HomeConnect PC camera and Windows Movie Maker, you may receive the following error message:
Windows Movie Maker
There is a problem with the video capture device. Check that it is configured properly and try again. If necessary, refer to the documentation for the capture device for more information.
Subsequent attempts to record a movie clip all result in the same error message.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because 3Com no longer supports this device and no Windows XP drivers are available. Therefore, the device does not work under Windows XP.
