Cannot Install Windows XP from a Folder That Is Not Named i386 (307064)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install Windows XP from a folder whose name is not i386, you may receive the following error message:
Setup was unable to copy the following file:
Disk 1

Press ENTER to retry the copy operation.
Press ESC to ignore the error and continue Setup.
Press F3 to exit Setup.

Note: If you choose to ignore the error and continue you may encounter errors later in Setup.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, change the name of the folder where the setup files reside to i386.
