Portege Does Not Start After You Install Windows XP and a Panasonic PC Card CD-ROM Is in PC Card Slot 1 (307049)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install Windows XP on a Toshiba Portege 7020 portable computer that has a Panasonic PC Card CD-ROM in the portable computer's PC Card slot 1, the computer may not start.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, move the Panasonic PC Card CD-ROM from PC Card slot 1 to PC Card slot 0 (zero).

In the BIOS, configure PCMCIA mode to PCIC-Compatible or CardBus/16bit. If you need assistance with changing this setting, contact the hardware manufacturer.
