When you select an account for guest access by using the Server Configuration Application (SCA), the domain browser may return an empty list. When you enter account information manually, you may receive the following error message:
Unexpected Error! Failed to get Guest Access Account domain
Extended error: [What="Invalid guest access account or password (domain), (guest account)"] [LCID="1033"] [SourceFile="P:\NR\Server\ServerConfigurationAPI\NRGuestAccessSettings.cpp"] [SourceFileLine="278"] [DebugInfo=""] [RecommendedAction=""]

CAUSE
Content Management Server (CMS) 2001 uses an unauthenticated query to Active Directory to confirm the guest account. This fails if the Everyone group does not have required permissions.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
- Open Active Directory Users and Computers.
- On the View menu, click Advanced Features.
- Right-click the domain name and click Properties.
- Click the Security tab and ensure that the Everyone group is listed with Read permissions.
- Click Advanced.
- Select the Everyone group and click View/Edit.
- In the Apply onto field, select This object and all child objects.
- Click OK 3 times.
