STOP Error Message Concerning Mxlw2k.sys Appears When You Restart Windows 2000 (306967)

SYMPTOMS

After you restart Windows 2000, you may receive the following error message:
STOP c000026c unable to load device driver \%SystemRoot%\System32\Drivers\Mxlw2k.sys. Device driver could not be loaded, error status 0xc000012F

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, run the following repair procedure:
  1. Start the computer by using the Windows 2000 CD. At the Welcome to Setup screen, press R for repair, and then press C for Recovery Console.
  2. Enter the Administrator password and the number of the Windows 2000 installation that you want to repair.
  3. At the Recovery Console command prompt, type disable mxlw2k, and then press ENTER.
  4. Type exit, and then press ENTER, to restart the computer.
