The %USERNAME% variable does not work for a profile name (306932)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
- Microsoft Outlook 2002
This article was previously published under Q306932 SYMPTOMS
In the Custom Installation Wizard (CIW), you can use the environment variable %UserName% to set certain items, such as the name of offline folders (.ost) files, the name of personal folders (.pst) files, and the name of Personal Address Book (PAB) files. However, the CIW cannot resolve a variable name for the profile name. Please note that this also effects the *.prf file in the section of the file which indicates ProfileName=%username%
For example, if you install Microsoft Office XP, type %UserName% in the Profile Name box in the CIW, and open Outlook 2002, the profile name is "%UserName%" and not the expected username.
STATUSThis behavior is by design.
