XCON: "No Process Is on the Other End of the Pipe" Message When You Point NNTP Virtual Directory at New Public Folder Tree (306929)

SYMPTOMS

When you point the "Default" Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP) virtual directory at a new public folder tree, the following message may be displayed in the Status column in Exchange System Manager for that virtual directory:

No process is on the other end of the pipe.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, restart the Exchange Information Store before or after you point the virtual directory at the new public folder tree.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
